The HIVE is starting a bi-monthly 3D printing club. Our first project will be focused on building an open source device that will allow us to recycle PET soda bottles into filament to be used in future projects. Once we have built this machine, we hope to offer an opportunity to our community to directly engage in plastic recycling at the local level. Our first meeting will be on April 18th.
We will be slicing and printing most of the mechanical and structural parts on our printers, and will be doing some electronics work as well as post-processing and assembly. This club is free and open to all levels of 3D printing knowledge and experience. Donations are welcome in order to support the future of our space. Though not a formal workshop, we’ll undoubtedly be troubleshooting and learning from one another as we go so beginners are welcome to bring their questions and enthusiasm.
